Mens Section

The range of players and opportunities in the men’s section at Glyn Abbey really does mean that there is something for everyone whether you are new to the game, interested in playing purely socially or looking to engage in regular and serious competition.

As well as a full calendar of competitions the Men’s section have active Rabbits and Tigers leagues which allow for regular competition with other clubs, and only serves to enhance the friendships and comraderies that form at Glyn Abbey.

The variety of competitions allow every member to find the level of golf and social interaction that they are looking for.

Ladies Section

At Glyn Abbey we are proud of our vibrant and growing Ladies section. The Wales Golf New2Golf scheme has been instrumental in bringing around 25 new players to the game, this year alone!

The section prides itself on its friendly welcome and inclusive approach to the game. Within the Ladies section are players of single figure handicaps right through to absolute beginners aspiring to obtain their handicap; and we have something to offer everyone.

In addition to a full calendar of competitions the section is affiliated to Golf Union of Wales (GUW), West Wales Ladies Golf Association (WWLGA) and Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire Ladies Golf Association (C&PLGA) and several the Ladies also play with the Men’s Rabbits section.

In addition to a number of social events and trips, the Ladies section also organise the ever-popular club ‘Pink Day’; a charity event which often sees some less than conventional golfing attire!

Anyone interested in finding out more should feel free to contact Mike Davies (PGA Club Pro), Josh Archer (Assistant Club Pro) or Sam Molyneux (Ladies Captain) via the clubhouse.

Seniors Section

Open to players aged 55 and over, the senior section has something to appeal to players of all levels from absolute beginners to the fiercely competitive.

The senior section plays regularly throughout the week with Tuesday and Friday mornings being well established for those wanting to turn up and have a match. In addition to the bi weekly ‘friendlies’ (the price of the post-match coffee is often more competitive than the Open!) the seniors have a full calendar of competitions at Glyn Abbey and further afield.

Regular trips away are organised by the seniors and recent trips have included Florida, Portugal and ever-growing list of UK clubs. The Seniors are a true back bone of support for Glyn Abbey with the organisation of regular charity events and support for other sections.

Anyone interested in finding out more should feel free to contact Mike Davies (PGA Club Pro), Josh Archer (Assistant Club Pro) or Steve Jones (Seniors Captain) via the clubhouse.

Junior Section

Glyn Abbey is proud to have a thriving and ever-growing junior section, and even prouder that the section enjoys so much support from the whole club. Weekly junior group lessons allow young players to learn the game of golf in a fun, safe and friendly environment. In addition to golf these lessons teach children about the importance of respect for the game, the course and for other players.

We are keen to ensure that all juniors can enjoy the game at whatever level suits them; in addition to weekly lessons, we hold ‘in club’ friendly competitions as well as interclub competitions through the Dyfed golf union and national programs such as Ping Golf organised through Wales Golf. Several the older juniors compete regularly in the club competitions alongside adult members. In spring 2022 we hope to launch a number of family fun days to build on the great family atmosphere which already exists within the club.

Support for juniors wishing to obtain a WHS handicap comes from across the club with volunteers contributing time and equipment to ensure that these juniors can progress in the game. Anyone interested in learning more should feel free to contact Mike Davies (PGA Club Pro), Josh Archer (Assistant Club Pro) or Rachel Lawrence (Junior organiser) via the clubhouse.
